The songs on Sanctuary were created through outreach and collaborations where the communities themselves participated to relay the true voice of those facing real issues. The culmination of these activities is a series of collaborative writing sessions with individuals, including the leaders of the organizations and those they serve. The songs are written in the participant’s voices to bring ‘the voice of the voiceless’ to the mainstream.
